Chill out weekend with leisurely lunches at St Katherines Dock and Canary Wharf. Hotel is good and have been there before and will go back again

The Cumberland Hotel was great value for money through Superbreak, the beds are great and the breakfast buffet was great too. However if we had paid the full rate for the hotel then we would have been disappointed with the hotel customer service and the small room.

Our weekend was primarily a birthday treat, including a makeover photoshoot in Oxford Street. The Cumberland Hotel was stunning on arrival with unusual reception. The room was very comfortable and looked out over Hyde Park. The weather was warm which meant strolling down Oxford Street was a pleasure, people watching. The piece de resistance was dining out in Gary Rhodes W1 in the hotel after glamourous makeover. A weekend to remember. Sunset Boulevard - Having seen the original production I was interested to see what was new. Found it slightly disappointing in set compared to the original and the musicians playing the characters slightly distracting from the plot. However the individual perfomances were excellent.

I have been using the Cumberland Hotel on my visits to London for almost 6 years and whilst I do from time to time use other hotels the Cumberland always feels like home. The staff are always attentive and friendly and deal with any concern promptly. The hotel itself is delightful and always a pleasure to stay in. I look forward to my next visit.

We visited The Cumberland on 20 April 2009 for 3 nights. The Cumberland is out to impress visitors with the front reception/lobby. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel, bedrooms etc. are sub-standard. I booked a 'deluxe' room only to be given a shabby room which overlooked the grubby courtyard, a lot of continuous noise from the boiler-house and the wardrobe doors hit the bed if you tried to open them (only 2 coat-hangers in the wardrobe). We did have the room changed but did not get any sleep for the 3 nights because of all night traffic noise. There was no television picture due to poor reception in the room. Every breakfast we had was cold. Having previously spent a stunning Superbreak holiday at the Langham Hotel, we were expecting a similar experience. Well worth the extra cost to go to the Langham. Never again The Cumberland!
