County Hall is an excellent Hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It is located in a perfect position opposite the Houses of Parliament. It is, however, let down by a mediocre restaurant. Our evening meal was OK at best and the breakfasts were poor. Luke warm food served on cold plates - not what I expected from a 5* Hotel. The rooms were a good size and well fitted out, and this together with the fantastic staff would encourage me to return.

Despite the rain we had a wonderful weekend - lovely hotel with very warm and welcoming staff. We tookb a river boat to the O2 for the Tutankhamen exhibtion - very well organised and a real delight. after shooting back to our hotel to change we went out to see Mamma Mia - completely fantastic show - funny, touching and with outstanding performances. Next morning off to see the Terracota Army - again such clever organisation and a terrific insight to the amazing treasure left by the 1st emperor. Lunch and then the train home exhausted but thrilled by a very good weekend, Thank You!

The view over the River Thames from my room was simply stunning. To the left were the Houses of Parliament; to the right the BA London Eye. I certainly knew I was in London! Time was a little short, so I changed and had a quick bite in the bar area downstairs -again, with floodlit views over the Palace of Westminster. The reason for my visit was to attend a Royal Gala Opening of the South Bank Centre. Her Majesty the Queen was in attendance for a programme of classical music performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The highlight for me was a rousing rendition of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (choral) featuring a choir of 600 voices. My musical tastes are more 'rock and roll' than a classical, but both the venue and the wonderful performance had me wishing my family were there to share it with me. The Royal Festival Hall is splendid. The seats are comfortable, the sightlines and acoustics perfect. There is a whole new world developing on South Bank with a huge variety of riverside restaurants to choose from. I recommend the Marriott at County Hall as the perfect base to explore this vibrant area of London and encourage everyone to beat a path to the doors of the gloriously refurbished South Bank Centre.

Myself and my partner always come to London every Christmas to spend a weekend shopping and sight seeing. It just isn't Christmas in our house without this trip making us all festive. We were very impressed with the hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the helpful staff. We went on an evening ride on the London Eye, which was magical. We went to the Tower of London and had a very eventful time on the ice skating rink! We went to the London Aquarium which was great. We walked the length of of Oxford Street stocking up on lots of nice things for Christmas. We went to a fab little fish restaurant, unfortunately i can't remember the name but it was superb! We had such a great time that we're already looking to book our next little trip away!
